BloggerHigh

11/15/2011 - Been testing some of the free WP plugins from Blogger High. I have the free BloggerHigh SEO plugin for on page SEO and really like it.

11/28/2011 - Installed AutoBacklinks and set it up to point back to the Blog for testing.

- and BTW, don't bother pointing out to me that this site is not SEO optimized. I know that. I don't have any time to spend on that here. Plus, it doesn't really matter if this site has any traffic; I'm not selling anything. This is a collection of information for me, and some of my contacts to follow. I should maybe move this to a blog at some point. I have toyed with the idea of starting a SEO blog/site, but I don't know if I want to make that commitment. I am looking to lock up some SEO domains when I see good ones expiring.

http://www.domainhole.com - silly name for simply the best domain name spinner. I can always find some good ones with this tool and Google Adwords Keyword Tool

http://pluspanda.com/ - This is a great tool for managing testimonials and reviews on a site. I'm not using it yet, but want to set it up to see if these will feed into Google Places. Very slick look and concept.

http://mapalist.com - this is just a cool tool to map information on Google Maps. I'm going to put a customer list up, with just a zip code and no other information. This way, it will show the location of all of my customers on a sister site. Kind of fun, but does demonstrate the spread of the product. Also this could be automated, by putting the address capture on a Google Doc, as this tool will pull directly from a google doc.

https://www.ubl.org - buy the lower cost account; they will place your site in the biggest local search/citation sites and you don't have to hassle with it. Pay them, and in about a month you'll see them all showing up in server logs and SERP.

http://www.whitespark.ca- use the Local Citation Finder. This is FREE, and I would consider it a MUST to build Google Places weight and impact. It will find about 70 local citation sites. Some will be a bust, but you'll be able to get 20-50 good local citations from this tool. If you have to, farm the work out to somone after you run the report. It's amazing this thing is FREE.

 ADWORDS
How to target gmail and the Funbox in Adwords

The 'Funbox' is a little known reference to the top ad spot in gmail, and guess what? You can target it as a managed placement in your AdWords content network campaigns.

funbox.png

So how do you target the fun box? The fun box is not found in the placement tool, so you need to add this in manually as a managed placement (in the networks tab):

mail.google.com::Inbox,Top center

Also, one of the most common mistakes is to try and target gmail by adding 'gmail.com' as a managed placement. It's important to know that to target gmail, you need to add the following as a managed placement:

mail.google.com

If you see gmail is performing well for you, it's best practice to create a separate campaign that targets only gmail users.

Here are the benefits of creating separate gmail targeted campaigns:

  • Write specific ads tailored to Gmail users
  • Develop keyword themes around Gmail messages (advanced strategy)
  • Controlled budgets
  • Transparency of performance
